Yacht Racing Forum 2017

Last Update: November 3rd, 2017

The Yacht Racing Forum is the leading annual conference for the business of sailing and yacht racing.

About the Yacht Racing Forum

Business & Marketing

The Business & Marketing conference focuses on the commercial aspects of the sport: sponsorship, event organisation, marketing, communication, venues, yacht clubs… It is a must attend event for organisers, sailing teams, venues, sponsors, yacht clubs and agencies in the yacht racing industry.

Design & Technology

Held on Day 1 only, the Design & Technology Symposium focuses on the latest developments and innovations within yacht racing. This includes the latest technology from the America’s Cup, safety innovations, foils and flying boats, rigid sails and new materials.

Risk Management & Safety

Held on the morning of Day 2 in plenary mode, the Yacht Racing Risk Management & Safety conference will discuss this major issue and propose concrete solutions.

The sport of sailing has changed dramatically over the five past years: the boats are much faster, the foils sharper, the dangers bigger. Are the sport and its participants aware of this change? Are the classes, event organizers and clubs ready to adapt? What does the sports’ governing body think about it?

Specifically, the conference will focus on safety equipment, legal and risk issues around team operations, event organiser liability, construction, sponsor requirements, team member contracts and much more.

The Venue

For several years, Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city with a population of 331.000 inhabitants, has been dedicated to the hosting of international sailing events.

There are two airports around Aarhus: Aarhus airport and Billund airport. Some courtesy cars provided by our partner Volvo will be available to help transit from / to the airport; otherwise buses and taxis remain the easiest solution.

A temporary, but absolute peak in Aarhus’ sailing events strategy will be hosting the 2018 Sailing World Championships, where sailors from 100 nations will race for medals and qualifications for the Olympics. The Bay of Aarhus will become a focal point for the many elite sailors in a timeless battle against the wind and the waves.

The fact that Aarhus is hosting the Yacht Racing Forum 2017, the leading annual conference for the yacht racing industry, will hopefully contribute to even more successful bids for hosting international yachting events and championships. The new international sailing center, which will open in spring 2018 at the city’s refurbished Docklands, will become center for this strategy.

Attendance at the YRF in Aarhus will, at the same time give delegates the opportunity to experience a dynamic and vibrant city, which in fact is European Capital of Culture 2017.

The Yacht Racing Forum 2017 will take place November 27-28, 2017 in Aarhus, Denmark, at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Margrethepladsen 1, 8000 Aarhus C, Danemark. Téléphone : +45 86 12 86 65.
