Aspendos Tour Turkey 2011

Cruise on modern gulets with cultural program and opera performance at the ancient Aspendos theater in Antalya.

Live the wonderful connection between sun, sea, culture and recreation – and all at a comfortable luxury gulet. – A special experience!

You will be served by a friendly crew and by our experienced hostess Mieke as tour guide.

For groups of 6 or more is possible to charter a own yacht alone and to join the trip.
We start in June with two tours:

  • Tour 1:
    (Dalaman-Göcek-Fethiye-Gemiler-Kalkan-Kas-Kekova-Finike-Antalya-Aspendos-Perge-Side-Antalya)
  • Tour 2:
    (Antalya-Perge-Side-Aspendos-Antalya-Finike-Kekova-Kas-Kalkan-Gemiler-Fethiye-Göcek-Dalaman)

Places can be booked on two different Gulets.

Price on Gulet 211 Euros a day
Price on Luxury-Gulet 322 Euros a day

Included: Gulet with crew and all additional costs, port fees, fuel, bed linen, towels, cleaning, food and beverage, travel guide, state-approved guide for the historic places in and around Antalya, transfer to the Aspendos Theatre and tickets for “Carmen”, transfer to the port.
Not included: Travel to the Dalaman airport.

Tour 1

Tour 1 starts with the tour on boat and has a highlight with two cultural days on land.
Dalaman-Göcek-Fethiye-Gemiler-Kalkan-Kas-Kekova-Finike-Antalya-Aspendos-Perge-Side-Antalya

1.Day: Arrival at Dalaman Airport DLM and transfer to the marina in Gocek. Welcome of the guests through the crew and instruction into the ship. Meals at arrival, lunch, tea, coffee and cakes, etc. in the afternoon and dinner for the guests already arrived. Even at a very late arrival at night we provide food and beverage for the physical well-being. Once all guests have arrived at evening or the next morning, meeting of all guests with the crew to know each other and to discuss the itinerary with the captain. The night will be spent in the marina in Gocek.

2.Day: Departure from the marina of Gocek. Breakfast in a quiet bay in the Gulf of Gocek. During the day we reach the island Tersane (swimming among the ruins of an old Ottoman Shipyard), which are underway Bedri Rahmi bay with the gulls mosaic and other bays and islands in the Gulf of Gocek.
In the afternoon departure to Fethiye. In Fethiye can be visited the ruins of the Roman theater right on the harbor. There is a pretty old town, pedestrian area and a well-attended fish market to explore. Those who wish may also rise to the famous grave of Amyntas, which is easily accessible cut just above the old town of Fethiye in the rock. Night in the port of Fethiye.

3.Day: In the morning departure to the Bay of Gemiler. Around the bay there are a number of interesting ruins from early Christian and Roman times, which can be discovered by foot. After lunch, which will be taken on board, departure by bus to Kayaköy, a 20 minutes drive.
Walking through the ruins of the Greek city Karmylassos close to the steep hillside with beautiful views of the romantic valley of the village.
In Kayaköy there is the typical Turkish village life, where men sit in the local tea house, playing and gossiping women in shady places. In between grazing goats and sheep.

4.Day: Early morning departure for Kalkan, an old fishing village that has become a holiday town. Opportunity a walk through the old town to make use of Kalkan. In the afternoon Proceed to Kas. Night in Kas, another original Greek fishing village. In Kas, there are the ruins of a Roman theater to visit and worth a tour of the historic old town, situated in the midst of numerous Lycian sarcophagi.

5.Day: Early morning departure to Kekova, the sunken city. In the afternoon visit of the sunken ruins, view from the ship. Possibility to explore the village Kekova, the Simena island and castle by foot to enjoy the breathtaking panoramas. Overnight in the bay near Kekova.

6.Day: Departure early in the morning to Finike, a bustling town with a beautiful harbor. Finike is known throughout Turkey for its oranges and citrus fruits.

7.Day: Arrival in Antalya, Setur Marina and transfer to hotel – afternoon visit of the old town and museum. Dinner will be served in one of the finest restaurants in of the historic old town overlooking the Bay of Antalya and the historic harbor. Then transfer to Aspendos for performance of “Carmen “.

8.Day: Tour of Perge in the morning then transfer to side with guide through the Greek city and to many ruins with official guide. Then drink & dinner in a restaurant on the bank so you can experience the unforgettable sunset there.

9.Day: Check out from the Gulet, transfer to Antalya airport and departure.

Tour 2

Tour 2 begins with two days of culture on land and then it goes on board.
Antalya-Perge-Side-Aspendos-Antalya-Finike-Kekova-Kas-Kalkan-Gemiler-Fethiye-Göcek-Dalaman

1.day: Arrival at the airport in Antalya and transfer to hotel. In the evening, welcome of the guests by our tour guide.

2.day: Visit Perge in the morning then transfer to Side with guide of the Greek city and the many ruins with official guide. Then drink & dinner in a restaurant on the shore, so you can enjoy the unforgettable sunset there.

3.day: In the morning visit of the old city of Antalya after transfer from hotel to Setur Marina by bus and check in on to the gulet. Welcome of the guests and introduction by the crew into the ship. Meeting of all participants with of the crew to the general know each other and discuss of the itinerary with the captain. Lunch on board. Then visit the museum of Antalya. Dinner on board. Then transfer to Aspendos the performance of “Carmen “.

4.day: In the early morning departure to Finike. After arrival visit to the bustling town with a beautiful harbor. Finike is known throughout Turkey for its oranges and citrus fruits.

5.day: In the early morning departure to Kekova, the sunken city. In the afternoon visit of the sunken ruins, view from the ship. Possibility to explore by foot the village Kekova, the Simena island and the castle to enjoy the breathtaking panoramas. Night in the bay near Kekova.

6.day: In the early morning departure to Kas, for a posible walk through the historical town of Kas, originally a Greek fishing village.
In Kas, there are the ruins of a Roman theater to visit and it is worth a walk through the historic old town with numerous Lycian sarcophagi in the center.
In the afternoon proceed to Kalkan, a traditional fishing village that has become a touristic city. Night in Kalkan.

What to know

Gulets

A gulet is a cozy, luxurious holiday boat for a relaxing seaside holiday.
A characteristic feature is the large space on and below deck. The cabins are almost as large as a modern hotel rooms, all have private bathroom with shower and toilet and the deck where there’s life in the summer, there are plenty of sunbathing areas and cozy corners with and without sun protection. In recent years, the trend to more and more comfort – put and good service – with air conditioning, ice maker, microwave etc..

Mieke Van AssenMieke Van Assen is Dutch and lives partly in Bodrum/Turkey. She will accompany our guests on the tour at sea and on land. She is an experienced travel companion, who is was traveling in the last few years on many gulets as well as superyachts.

Theatre

The most important international festival is a central meeting place of the Devlet Opera ve Balesi (State Opera and Ballet) with orchestra, choir, soloists, ballet, creative artists, stage masters, writers, costume manufacturers. With the participation of numerous opera and ballet stars, the festival is colorful and attractive.

AspendosAspendos, an ancient theater between mountains and sea, offers since 2,000 years about 10,000 viewers a unique atmosphere of history and music features.
The music lovers should not miss the opera and theater performances at the Antique Aspendos Theatre.

Antalya

With a rapid development, the modern city of Antalya became in the past few years, a so-called Renaissance. In that time, many Ottoman Hostels were restored and converted into boutique hotels. In the narrow streets of the city that are accessible only by walking, you have the opportunity to smell the lovely air of the sea.
Founded on the high cliffs of Antalya and the large number the hotels have wonderful views to the sea.

Kas / Kalkan

The historic town of Kalkan is an enchanting place and one of the most beautiful locations along Turkey’s gorgeous Lycian Coast.  With the absence of mass tourism, Kalkan remains a charming and unspoiled haven of lush nature, brilliant blue crystal-clear sea, historic architecture, ancient history and warm traditional Turkish hospitality.
Near Kalkan there are the historical sites of Xanthos, Patara and Letoon and are next to the Blue Grotto is a popular tourist destination.

Gemiler-Bucht

The beach is very popular because it lies in a sheltered bay. On the island Gemiler many of the ruins are located underwater. Middle Age sea maps said that on the summit of the island is the St. Nicholaus church.

Kayaköy

Kayaköy was formerly a village inhabited by Greeks. It is located about 8 miles south of Fethiye in a rocky mountain valley. Due to the population exchange between Greece and Turkey after the establishment of the Turkish Republic, the inhabitants of the village immigrated to Greece. In Kayaköy was populated then from people who moved from West Trakien. They have their houses on the plain, which extends from Kayaköy. Today there are a population of about 2 000 people.

Gocek

Göcek, a dynamic town developping in the yacht business were recently build 6 marinas to wellcome private and charter yachts.

The central location in the heart of the Gulf of Fethiye and proximity to Dalaman airport (half hour) bring the village large turnout.

Finike

Kekova

Kekova, a spot that is like heaven on earth. One first encounters the Sicak Peninsula at the end of which are two islands: Toprakada and Karaada. Kekova island stretches out from here and it is because of this island that the whole area is called Kekova. Passing among the islands and arriving at Kekova, the safest anchorage is Üçagiz, which is a good, all-round harbor. Other places may be used for short periods during visits. At Kekova, history and nature have merged and become inseparable. Such ancient cities are Aperlai, Kekova, Simena, and Theimussa are to be found in the vicinity.

Fethiye

The Gulf of Fethiye is one of the most beautiful gulfs in the world. There are 12 islands, small and large and many bays, one more beautiful than the other in this gulf situated between the capes of Kurtoglu and Iblis and covered with pine forests.
The bays and islands which are ideal shelters for yachts, can be reached by all yachts departing from Fethiye and Göcek. These extremely beautiful bays  and coves will make you have a very good time here.

Perge

Perge (18 kilometers / 11 miles from Antalya) was an important city in Pamphylia (today’s Mediterranean region), in Asia Minor. Perge is also famous by the fact that when Saint Paul started his journeys, he visited Perge in 46 A.D. and preached his first sermon here. That’s why it became an important city for the Christians during Byzantine period.

3. Reservation Payment

When you have received the reservation details you have to confirm with the payment of the 50 % of the total amount of the booking price. Accounts in Germany, Turkey and Spain. Please indicate us the reservation number.

4. Contract

Received your payment of the 50 %, your booking is confirmed. We send you your contract by e-mail.

5. Final Payment

The final payment should be done one month before the check-inn. Once received the payment we will send you by e-mail all the necessary information for the check-inn including the contact in the port base.
