Teams prepare for the Bretagne In-Port Race

Tension is mounting in Lorient as the six teams prepare to face off in the first of the race’s final three scoring opportunities, the Bretagne In-Port Race.

Overall race leaders Groupama sailing team take a 23 point margin and home town advantage into today’s 60 minute inshore race but are nevertheless keen to secure maximum points ahead of tomorrows Leg 9 start to Galway.

Second placed PUMA Ocean Racing powered by BERG are also gunning for victory to claw back points from the French team and fend off a dual challenge from third and fourth placed CAMPER and Telefónica whose scores are tied, five points back.

Today’s race could also impact the overall in-port race series results where PUMA top the leaderboard on 35 points, with CAMPER and Abu Dhabi snapping at their heels in second and third on 34 points and 33 points respectively.

Groupama are fourth in the in-port series on 32 points.

The Bretagne In-Port Race starts at 1302 local time (1102 UTC) with live video and still images on the Volvo Ocean Race Livestream channel.
