Throughout this week, more than fifty thousand messages relating to the fair will be exchanged between Facebook and Twitter.
The companies and bodies that are due to take part next week at the International Tourism Trade Fair in Madrid, FITUR (18-22 January at Feria de Madrid), grant considerable importance to their presence on social networking sites, making the very most of these tools in order to attract and gain the loyalty of tourists. The figures provide ample testimony to this fact.
According to a study carried out by FITUR, the exhibitors at the International Tourism Trade fair have a total of 38.5 million followers on Facebook and six million nine hundred thousand followers on Twitter.
FITUR has also chosen to provide a boost for its presence on social networking sites. In this respect, it has breathed new life into its activities on Twitter and LinkedIn, and it has strengthened its presence on Facebook, through the development of apps, the creation of synergies with partners from the industry and strategic planning. With almost 30 thousand followers, FITUR has positioned itself as the leading tourism fair in the world on the social networks, well ahead of its main competitors within the sector.
The agency, Hey AV, is currently carrying out the strategy to boost FITUR’s profile on networking sites in order to coordinate and multiply the dissemination of the 13,325 tweets and 5,550 posts on Facebook that the exhibitors themselves are expected to generate.
Furthermore, it is forecast that at least 15% of the visitors to the fair will publish a comment relating to the event on their web profiles (mainly on Twitter and Facebook), which will be monitored in order to discover their experiential feedback.
The study will be presented next 21st January at “Social Media Sharing” at FITUR, the first Social Media Experiences Meeting featuring the participation of companies such as Iberia, Melia Hotels, Paradores and MSC Cruceros.
