The 2011 NeilPryde Racing Series also comes to a finale during the final Act of the Extreme Sailing Series in Singapore. The NeilPryde Racing Series made its debut appearance on the Extreme Sailing Series at Act 7 in Nice, France and the final Act of the Extreme 40 circuit coincided with the NeilPryde finale with the two events coming together for a second time here on Marina Bay.
The NeilPryde Racing Series started in January on Marina Bay in Singapore and has since made stopovers in Dunkerque, Aalborg, Nice, Miami, Hong Kong and Fortaleza. The new RS:One design is the perfect class for young and seasoned windsurfers competing in a stadium racing format, mirroring the successful style of the Extreme Sailing Series.
“It is really good to be racing with the Extreme Sailing Series because we also bring the action close to the public,” explained Manu Messiaen, NeilPryde Production and One Design Manager.
The NeilPryde Racing Series featurs the new, universal one-design ISAF windsurfing class, the RS:One. Twenty racers from Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand completed four qualification races today in light winds, on the short and dynamic race courses set in front of the race village vying for the victory and the €375 prize money. Today’s final round was staged as night fell, with the top two sailors competing from each division, with the four finalists racing with special illuminated LED sails – the first time these special FX sails have been used. The NeilPryde Racing Series concludes tomorrow.
