The Newport International Boat Show is one of the top largest in-water boat shows in the country, with the biggest selection of boats and boating products in the Northeast. It is a showcase of the latest boats — both power and sail – as well as boating products, presented in the luxurious setting of Newport, RI. The show, traditionally the first national of the season, always has the newest boats to see, this year from 8’ prams to an 82’ luxury cruiser!
This year’s 41st Annual Show covers over 13 acres along America’s Cup Avenue in Newport. More than 750 exhibitors with over 600 boats are expected to be on display, including express cruising yachts, racing sailboats, ocean-going trawlers, a Multihull Lagoon, plus DownEast style boats, sport fishing boats, runabouts, kayaks, canoes and inflatables. In addition, there are engines, sails, equipment, safety products, electronics plus thousands of accessories and marine services, as well as seminars, demonstrations and workshops.
Newport For New Products™ — the official venue for U.S. debuts of new boats and boating products and an industry-wide initiative that recognizes the best boats and products being introduced for the 2012 model year — will once again be presented at the Show. Look for the red and blue balloons signifying a new boat or product throughout the show.
VIP Day is Thursday, September 15th with much of the industry press and the trade visiting the Show and buyers being treated to special attention by the exhibitors. Special activities are planned and details are available on the Show’s web site.
Sail For Pride is the Show’s official Charitable Partner this year. Founded in 2001 in response to the horrific attack against our nation on the shores of New York harbor, the group has since raised money for victims and their families plus over a dozen other charities. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be added to the amount the group hopes to raise at their annual regatta held in Newport the week before the Boat Show to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. Learn more about Sail For Pride and their charities for 2011…the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Red Cross at their boat show exhibit in Tent A, Booth #48.
In addition, a long list of speakers, classes and seminars will be held on the grounds or nearby the Show. Of particular note are seminars scheduled for Friday and Saturday by Lin and Larry Pardey, authors, magazine contributors and ‘round the world sailors, on “Storm Tactics” and “Cruising Cost Control”. Add to that…there’s a free Saturday night party at the Show this year! The Newport Boat Show is more than a boating and learning experience…it’s a party in Newport! Just stay inside the gates of the Show at 6 PM on Saturday and you can enjoy free pizza, beer and soft drinks at the Lats & Atts Cruiser Party with the music of The Eric Stone Band. Get into the spirit of Newport on beautiful Newport Harbor!
Also, a new two-day ticket special will make the Show a lower-cost weekend for avid boaters…with specials for all other attendees as well. Show hours are Thursday to Saturday 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM.
Advance tickets are available on line. Tickets purchased at the show on Thursday, VIP Day, are $27.00 (for convenience, $24 on-line plus processing fee).
