The Twenty-Seventh Almirante Conde de Barcelona Trophy in the Bay of Palma – Palma – Mallorca
Over 50 boats take part in this regatta, which is organised by the Real Fundación Hispania de Barcos and inspired by D. Juan de Bourbon’s philosophy of recovering historic boats abandoned in ports and beaches.
This regatta will take place in the Bay of Palma from August 15 to 21 and boats will be competing in three groups according to age: Vintage, Classic and Replicas.
The boats, according to the year in which they were built, are registered in the
- VINTAGE (launched before December 31, 1949) or
- CLASSIC categories (launched between January 1, 1950 and December 31, 1975).
The Real Foundation Hispania de Barcos of Época was founded along the lines of Juan de Bourbon’s philosophy of recovering boats in semi-abandoned states. Its main objective is to promote the restoration, conservation and circulation of knowledge about historic boats and the recovery of Spain’s maritime cultural heritage.
King Alfonso XIII commissioned William Fife to design the vintage Hispania in 1909 and it was found in West Mersea, a beach in southeastern England, where it was being used as housing. The Hispania Foundation was able to acquire it and it has been complete restorated.
