Last Update: September 19th, 2018
The 2017 edition of the Grand Pavois La Rochelle, organised by the association Grand Pavois Organisation was a great hit as much for the many new products exhibited (more than 100 new boats exhibited out of the 750 present) as for the number of highlights which marked this year’s event and the overall atmosphere.
This year’s edition enjoyed favorable weather conditions for the first four days, although, unfortunately, Sunday was rainy and Monday was overcast. These last two days were not ideal in terms of weather and had an effect on the number of visitors to the show.
Therefore, the 2017 event is expected to end on Monday evening with 80,000 visitors over the six days of the exhibition, namely the same number of visitors as in 2016. A large public and, above all, a good quality public in terms of visitor profiles. An important detail for the 800 brands present at the reference autumn show!
- 80,000 visitors in 6 days, the same number of visitors as in 2016!
- An autumn meeting which confirms its position as a key event for water sport
enthusiasts and professionals.
- 2018 dates: from Wednesday 26 September to Monday 1 October.
The presence of 800 international brands bears witness to the fact: the Grand Pavois La Rochelle confirms that it is a true business show. Many sales, many estimates, many post-show appointments taken: the Grand Pavois is still very much in the Top Five international in-water events and confirms that it has become essential for enthusiasts as well as for professionals, who see in the event commercial prospects for the coming year. This edition of the Grand Pavois La Rochelle appears to have been of satisfaction to many professionals and several brands who, when asked, declared that they had achieved and even, for some, exceeded the goal they had set themselves before the show. A positive sign for the end of 2017 and the start of 2018!
Alain Pochon (President of Grand Pavois Organisation):
“It has really been a great event this year! We closed the show this evening with a total of 80,000 visitors, despite Sunday being wet, which removed a good 1,500 to 2,000 visitors. I think we could have exceeded the 2016 figures if this day had been better. We even experienced a Saturday that will remain engraved in our memories because our visitors’ car park has never been saturated before (4,000 spaces), especially at 10.30 am! This really is something we are going to have to work on in the future. In terms of business, many professionals told me of their satisfaction and announced that they had achieved their goals. We also
know that some large units were sold, which is a good sign. Therefore, business was done and we are happy to hear it. This confirms that our show is an important date for our profession. Some shipyards even told me that it would have been good to have had two more days! It goes to show!!
The Grand Pavois La Rochelle confirms its position as the show for real fans
“There were also many sea trials. “Our La Plage space was very popular during the week and event this weekend with many young people in the water, especially on Saturday. The Fishing Space and Grand Pavois Fishing (editor’s note: fishing contest with no-kill bait) also continues their development. Competitors and pro-staffers at sea met during the three days all representing more than 30 different brands. In terms of representativeness and market offers, we can report that the Fishing Space was incredibly rich this year with boats offering an incredible diversity of equipment. Our Multihull Space continues its development with the setting up of double pontoons. Another important point is that I believe we are the show that presents the most aluminium units! An important detail that deserves to be underlined. We also had a magnificent exhibition of old rigs in-water and our Heritage and Tradition Space developed a very interesting and innovative theme with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region. Finally, so-called event boats with incredible stories were present, such as the Masselis family, Sébastien Roubinet with his project to cross the North Pole, two boats that will be competing in the 2018 Golden Globe, Moana back from its tour of the Atlantic, and more.”
An incredible guest country of honour: the Sultanate of Oman!
“What a journey” The Sultanate of Oman was a great revelation for many visitors and professionals who visited the magnificently decorated hall. We want to thank his Excellency the Ambassador in Paris of the Sultanate of Oman and Mrs Rania Khodr, the Director of the Tourist Office of the Sultanate of Oman, who offered us a wonderful journey thanks to the presence of many craftsmen, a folklore group, screenings/conferences – including one by Philippe Poupon and Géraldine Danon! – a restaurant, with the presence of an Omani Chef, two Oman Sail boats, Oman Air and traditional craftsmen. Six truly magical days! “.
Highlight: the signature of the agreement with the Guadeloupe Region in the frame of the Rallye des Iles du Soleil
“The signature of the Rallye des Iles du Soleil agreement between the Guadeloupe Region and its President M. Ary Chalus and Grand Pavois Organisation was indisputably a highlight of this year’s event. Indeed, we signed the agreement confirming the fact that Marie-Galante and, therefore, the Guadeloupe Region would be the arrival point for the 2017 and 2018 Rallye des Iles du Soleil. The common goal is of course for our rallye to grow over the years and become an essential event for all leisure sailors wishing to cross the Atlantic in a secure and supervised context. With our friends in Guadeloupe and thanks to their trust and loyalty, we are on the right track! “.
“Our 2018 dates will be from Wednesday 26 September to Monday 1 October”
For the 2018 event, the Grand Pavois Organisation’s board of directors officially agreed on the dates of Wednesday 26 September to Monday 1 October 2018 so as not to clash with other water sports shows. The idea is to be truly at the service of water sport professionals – remember that Grand Pavois Organisation is managed by water sport professionals – and, therefore, we want to help them to optimise their attendance and presence at the Atlantic show for real fans. By planning a few days between the end of other shows and the start of our own one we allow professionals to prepare themselves better for the event in La Rochelle and optimise their results. Therefore, the 46th Grand Pavois La Rochelle will be held from Wednesday 26 September to Monday 1 October 2018″.
